Perumbakkam is a suburb in the Chengalpattu District of Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It is the home of several IT companies and is surrounded by residential developments; however, the locality enjoys nature's scenic beauty. The estimated area of the locality is 5.88 sq. km and has a population of 21,157. Perumbakkam has a tropical wet and dry climate with not much variation in seasonal temperature. The coordinates of the area are 12.9053°N and 80.1986°E. Tamil and English are mostly spoken here.

The Greater Chennai Corporation governs Perumbakkam. The popular areas of the locality are Nanmangalam Reserve Forest, Arignar Anna Zoological Park, Marina Beach, etc.
