About 8 kilometers separate Vadgaon Budruk Village from Pune's city core. Before 1990, the village's primary economic activity was farming, and it was quite small. The western hills' catchment area provides Vadgaon Budruk with fertile soil and ample water for farming. Vadgaon is the name given to the village because it contains many "Vad" or Banyan trees. Vadgaon Budruk, which has a thick forest close to parts of a river and a creek, served as one of the pauses for sheep traveling from the Konkan to areas inland.
